Eagan, Minnesota – The USA Clay Target League is proud to formally release its 2021 Annual Impact Report. The report details the League’s ongoing efforts to provide safe and fun clay target shooting to teams and athletes as a school-sponsored activity.
“Despite the tremendous ongoing challenges of COVID, school closings, and the ammunition shortage, the League was still able to rebound and provide clay target shooting sports to record numbers of participants in our spring and fall seasons” said John Nelson, President of the USA Clay Target League. “We could not have done it without the tremendous patience and support of our sponsors, who understand the importance and promise of the League’s high school, college, and homeschool shooting programs.”
With nearly 40,000 participating athletes in 2021, the 501(c3) non-profit USA Clay Target League is the largest youth clay target shooting sport program in the nation. The League offers trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 5-stand leagues to secondary and postsecondary schools across the country.
Highlights of the 2021 Annual Impact Report include:
- League programs expanded to 34 states
- Record 39,255 registered student athletes
- More than 13,000 new athletes in 2021
- $4 Million+ conservation dollars raised by League athletes through Pittman-Robertson excise taxes
“The League’s success is in large part to the dedicated coaches, parents, schools, and shooting ranges that make participation in the League the safe and fun activity that it is” Nelson said. “To them we give our heartfelt thanks for supporting the next generation by providing them the opportunity to represent their schools in a sport they love and can participate in for their whole life.”
