Hillsdale is an independent liberal arts college located in southern Michigan. Hillsdale offers academic rigor at an Ivy-level and has very high admissions standards to ensure students are up to the challenge. The average incoming freshman sports a 3.9 GPA and ACT of 32 (SAT 1420). The Chargers Shotgun Team was founded in 2010 and quickly became one of the most prominent collegiate clay target programs in the nation. They were ACUI division III Team High Overall National Champions in 2012, 2014-2018, and 2021 and won their first ACUI division II Team High Overall title in 2024. The Chargers compete primarily in six disciplines: American Trap, Trap Doubles, American Skeet, Skeet Doubles, Sporting Clays, and Super Sporting. They also have athletes competing in the Olympic Trap and Skeet and have earned numerous ISSF World Cup medals. Student-Athletes on the team are eligible to receive athletic scholarships on top of academic and need-based aid. The Chargers train at the college’s own Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. The facility has been the home of the USA Shooting National Team since 2019 and has hosted USA Shooting National Championships and Junior Olympic Championships. Halter boasts four international skeet fields, a 23-station sporting clays course, a heated 5-Stand, five international bunkers, and eight American Trap fields.
